I’ve been a daily user of the Internet since 1994. Although its fame is as a fabulous source of information, I have always sought out the community and interactive aspects of it. That’s why forums and blogging have had my attention from their first appearance. But since time is limited, I spent my energies in forums. Parenting, photography, web development, whatever was interesting. I wanted to get into blogging as well, but for years I let it slide. I tried out Google’s blogger at one point (see my very first post on this blog for more information about that wasted effort) but I just couldn’t get motivated, and I was not a fan of the system.
So I decided to start a photoblog. I was posting an image a day for the first 3 months or so, but my camera had to go into repair, and then I decided to just post regularly instead of anally
It shares its name with this blog, however, it’s the more minimalistic photografica. I realise of course you can combine photography and text in a blog, and in this one I will. But purity is good. An uncluttered photoblog with simple navigation and good sorting and archival options is a joy to use, and an example of clean, simple elegant web design. I have since seen many design I like more, and at some point I will upgrade it, but it’s nice as it is. Recently I haven’t had the time to bother with it much at all, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned is that a photoblog that is not regularly updated is like a rock in a stream. It sinks very quickly. But despite its invisibility on the net, it’s still there, so if you like your photography diverse, thoughtful and simple, check it out!
Since I first posted this, I have made some changes to the photoblog. I’m still using Pixelpost, but I have discovered a few new templates. The one I’m currently using is called Horizon, and I’ve modified it a little to suit my tastes. It’s still minimalist and uncluttered, as that’s still the best way to view photography, but it has a very cool drop down comment section and I think it looks very nice. The blog is now powered by the latest version of Pixelpost - 1.7. I’d love it if you dropped by and left a comment. I get a lot of visitors to the blog, but it’s like 1 in 100 that actually comment. Sad really. Either they think my work is rubbish or they’re just infected with browsing fever, and are already clicking on the next link.
