Hi, I'm Geoff Powell. I started Photografica in 2005 as a vehicle for photographic excellence.
I've been interested in visual communication my whole life - it's just something built in. I started making movies at 13 and bought my first stills camera at 16.
Life got in the way of a career in photography for a few decades. But you cannot deny who you are. In my 30s I went back to uni and took a Communication Degree and then a Diploma in Photography, and now I'm here.
My interests are wide and varied. I hate to be put in a box and while I'm not a specialist by nature, I am a meticulous professional. I don't believe in doing anything unless it's done well. Since my degree I have also achieved teaching qualifications and as well as working on personal and commercial projects, I teach photography at TAFE and give tuition to personal customers as well.
If you are looking for an affordable, very customer focussed creative photographer with a penchant for lighting and a committment to quality, don't hesitate to call me. I work mostly with domestic portraiture and small commercial photography, but have also had experience with food photography and editorial work.
